Municipality contributes Dh1.5m to Higher Colleges of Technology

Dubai: Dubai Municipality said it will contribute Dh1.5 million to the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) on Monday during the Dubai Men's College (DMC) 20th anniversary ceremony.

Celebrations were held under the patronage of Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of HCT, who signed a cooperation agreement with Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality.

The municipality will provide the money over three years, ensuring cooperation between the two organisations in areas of common interest such as academic qualifications and training of human resources.

"For those of us who witnessed the birth of this college& [This occasion] engenders in us a sense of pride in our past accomplishments and strengthens our faith in a bright and prosperous future," said Shaikh Nahyan, addressing Dr Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor of DMC, corporate sponsors, alumni, staff and students.

Opening in 1989, DMC began with 209 students and has graduated 5,217.
