Mohammad thanks business leaders for support
Donations for campaign to educate a million children swell to Dh240m
Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday received heads of international companies and Arab and foreign investors who conveyed their greetings on Ramadan.
Stressing the stability and security of the UAE, Shaikh Mohammad assured Arab and foreign businessmen that their families and business are all safe.
Shaikh Mohammad said the UAE's multi-cultural society would preserve its harmony. "All people in the UAE will enjoy security and safety," he added.
Praising the Dubai Cares campaign, the business leaders said it requires financial and moral support from all sectors.
Shaikh Mohammad thanked the businessmen for their solidarity with the charity drive through which he said he aimed to gain Allah's blessing and establish the principle of solidarity among mankind regardless of their geographic, religious and cultural backgrounds.
Shaikh Rashid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum received cheques worth Dh110 million, pushing the donations to Dh240 million.
Sunny Varkey, Chief Executive of Varkey Educational Group, gave Dh100 million, and Dr. Derek Bokhta, General Manager of ET Kerney Limited, and Micky Jagtiani, Chief Executive of Landmark Group, donated Dh5 million each.
