Dubai: A new checkpoint at the Hatta border will be built soon, a senior official from the residency department said.

Brigadier Obaid Bin Surour, deputy director of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department in Dubai, said a new checkpoint for heavy vehicles at the Hatta border will be built soon by Dubai Municipality.

"The new checkpoint will ease movements at Hatta border as it will have five lanes and it will separate vehicles from cars, buses and others," he said.

He said the new building will have a large hall for the completion of visitors' transactions, offices for staff, a food court and residency for the officers. Bin Surour added that the new building will also include a mosque and have a beautiful landscape. The design of the building will reflect the UAE's traditions and culture.
