Double expat suicide on Al Ain streets
Al Ain: Pupils of a private school were horrified to see a body on a road in Manaseer - the city's busiest school district on Tuesday afternoon. The man committed suicide, said police.
It was one of two incidents in which two expatriates committed suicide in different localities of Oasis city on Tuesday. Earlier last month, an Indian had hanged himself in a similar way in the area.
In the Manaseer incident, the deceased has been identified as a Nepali and was just 24 years old. He reportedly tied a rope on a tree branch, close to a patrol station and hanged himself to death at around 1pm.
Officials from the emergency rescue section arrived on the scene after a passer-by informed police about the incident.
The second incident occurred in Al Amriah in Al Jimi district. Police said an Afghan hanged himself with a rope at around 6:30pm. He was 22- years-old. Police are investigating both cases.
"I was shocked to see the dead man from the window of my bus," said Ahmad Ali, a grade 3 student at a private school.
"This is the first time I have seen a dead man," said 10-year-old Ali wondering why the man killed himself.
