Dar Al Ber Society outlines Ramadan programme

Organisation sponsors a total of 28,625 orphans in the UAE and abroad

Dubai: The Dar Al Ber Society has announced that the eighth edition of its annual ceremony for orphans will be held during Ramadan.

The ceremony will be held under the patronage of Shaikha Hind Bint Maktoum Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to honour orphans and spread joy among them.

Mohammad Ahmad Al Hammadi, associate member of the society, stated that the ceremony will honour 250 orphans on July 12 to mark the beginning of Ramadan. The Dubai World Trade Centre will be the venue for the function, which will start at 9:30 pm.

Since its inception, the event has honoured a total of 2,000 orphans out of the 28,625 (950 in the UAE) that the society sponsors inside and outside the country.

The society also supports 544 poor families, 42 handicapped individuals and relies on a total of 14,900 sponsors.

Al Hamadi also spoke about the criteria followed by the society in selecting the philanthropic personality of the year.
