Student arrested for breaking into shops and stealing in Ras Al Khaimah
Ras Al Khaimah: A student has been arrested for breaking into shops and stealing valuables in Ras Al Khaimah, the police said on Thursday.
The 17-year-old suspect, an Emirati, was caught red handed, Lieutenant Colonel Sultan Salem Al Darmaki, head of Criminal Investigation Department, said.
The suspect targeted mobile phone and toy shops in the emirate. Al Darmaki said the suspect conducted his raids late at night and would break into shops using a sharp object.
There were several complaints of robbery recently, prompting General Shaikh Taleb Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chief of RAK Police, to set up a team of investigators to resolve the case.
Al Darmaki said the police investigators were able to predict the thief's next target and nail him.
The suspect, a secondary-school student, confessed to selling the stolen items to his classmates.
Al Darmaki said the suspect has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
