Man in leaps and bounds to meet Bush

Ras Al Khaimah: A man, who said he had to keep an appointment with George W. Bush and other leaders on the moon, gave Civil Defence the jitters because he wanted to leap from the roof of a building to reach his destination.

The 38-year-old Indian climbed to the roof, shouting to people to clear the way to the moon because he had to meet the US President.

Several passers by stood in shock, while some informed the Civil Defence, which immediately dispatched vehicles. Colonel Saeed Imbasi, who heads the department, said the man was on the edge of the roof, making it difficult for personnel to get to him.

A special force then swung into action. As an officer kept the man engaged in conversation, the force crept on to the roof and saved him.

Col Imbasi said the man is in police custody for attempting suicide. Police sources said the man even tried to beat up investigators, and has been admitted for psychiatric treatment.
