Man goes to jail for robbery

Last updated:

Ras Al Khaimah: An Egyptian was given a jail term for three months for one of the 11 robberies the Public Prosecution had earlier accused him of.

A senior court official from the Misdemeanour Court said the man identified only as A.S., had earlier been sentenced to three months in jail in each of the other ten cases. His fingerprints were traced in the shops that had been robbed.

The official said the court, however, acquitted him in another case since his fingerprints were not found at the crime scene.

The suspect will face the court in seven other cases, in which he will face more prison terms, said the official.

Police arrested the suspect after a trap had been set at one of his targeted shops.

The man earlier robbed supermarkets and pharmacies.

During police investigations the suspect confessed to the robberies but denied all other charges.
