Man gets 10-year jail term for raping woman and forcing her into prostitution

Dubai: A rapist, who was apprehended at the Indian Consulate where his victim spotted him after having escaped from him, will spend ten years in jail, ruled a court.

The 25-year-old Indian maid fled from the hands of her 35-year-old Indian rapist and took refuge at the Consulate. When she spotted the accused, J.P., finalising some papers at the Consulate, she told the police and helped them catch him.

The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced J.P. to five years for sexually exploiting the woman and another five years for raping her. He will be deported after serving his jail term.

The Public Prosecution charged the accused with abduction and rape, and forcing the woman into prostitution in a flat where he held her against her will.

He pleaded not guilty.

"J.P. and someone named S. took me to a flat in the Hamdan area where they beat and raped me. They forced me to have sex with men and threatened to kill me and kidnap my children in India if I refused," the housemaid said.
