Gang kidnapped and tortured businessman
Four men who threatened a businessman at knifepoint, tied him up in a bag and took him to Sharjah before robbing him will each have to spend 10 years in jail.
The Dubai Court of First Instance found the gang ,an Iranian, S.M., a Russian, A.M., and two Uzbeks, identified as J.K. and V.H., guilty of kidnap, theft, assault and threatening to kill the Indian businessman, J.P.
A Russian identified as G., was acquitted. The Iranian confessed earlier that he had planned to torture and attack J.P., over a financial dispute. They stole his watch, gold ring and wallet. Two suspects threatened J.P.'s wife and daughter to find out where they kept their money. They then took Dh100,000.
The defendants heated an iron and placed it on the businessman's face, hands and stomach. They also held a candle under his left leg and forced him to sign some cheques.
The court also sentenced S.M. and G. to one month in jail each for consuming liquor. All the defendants will be deported after serving their terms.
