Dubai Police test response times

Last updated:

Dubai: Dubai Police recently organised a mock incident at a shop in Bur Dubai's gold souq, to test patrol response times.

The General Department of Organisational Protective Security and Emergency at Dubai Police also organised the test run to measure how quick the patrol offers assistance, how much time it took to reach the destination and other emergency procedures.

Lieutenant Abed Al Salam Ali Abdullah, markets department head, who supervised the trial run, said that secrecy was important for the trial that formed part of the Be Prepared programme, which will be conducted throughout the year.

Quick

He said all reports from the test are being analysed, to ensure the full benefit is gained from conducting the trial.

"It took the patrol 13 minutes from the moment they received the dispatch to the time they reached where the incident had occurred. It was very quick, because the patrol was close by," he said.

He stressed the importance of maintaining the safety of people and staff during fires as well as other emergencies, because they can occur at any time and in any place. This is why rescue and emergency teams have to perform at their peak levels, he said.
