Cause of disruption in etisalat's mobile service still unknown

Dubai: The cause of disruptions in eitsalat's mobile services on Tuesday and Wednesday remains unknown. Gulf News received a number of complaints from etisalat subscribers in Sharjah, and Dubai about disruptions in text message services and calls.

The areas affected by mobile service disruptions are so far known to be Jumeirah, Deira, Safa in Dubai and Al Nahda and other areas in Sharjah.

Subscribers of etisalat mobile services said text messages would not go through during the disruptions and that calls dropped. “My calls kept disconnecting and I thought it was a problem with my phone until I was told about similar experiences from a couple of people,'' said a resident of Al Safa. Others said it was impossible to place calls, noting that calls only went through after “five or six tries''.

Gulf News contacted etisalat about the disruptions but the telecom company did not respond by the time of publishing.
