A major Saudi bookstore chain yesterday launched its first and biggest store in Abu Dhabi and plans to open more shops in other Arab countries.
Jarir Bookstore said it has invested nearly Dh30 million in the new bookshop, which is spread over an area of 3,500 square metres near Zayed Port.
The book store has more than 7,000 items of office supplies and 25,000 titles in Arabic, English and other languages, according to its Director, Abdul Karim Al Agil.
"It is the biggest book store in the UAE and is Jarir's second bookshop outside Saudi Arabia," he said. Jarir opened a branch in Qatar earlier.
"There are plans to open more book stores in the Arab world. We have chosen Abu Dhabi in the UAE because of its promising business environment as well as its cosmopolitan population ."
