Sharjah Police have launched Anjad Police patrols in Khor Fakkan and the Eastern Zone to develop services and improve security and traffic control to cope with modernisation and development.

Col. Ali Saleh Al Mutawa, Commander-in-Chief, Sharjah Police, said during the launch ceremony that the Eastern Zone is gaining attention and priority within the modernisation plans of the Government of Sharjah with economic, social and developmental projects.

"It was a necessity to develop the performance of police at these areas to help meet the responsibility with the highest levels of efficiency," he said.

Sharjah Police is doing its best to deploy the support extended by the government and the Ministry of Interior to carry out balanced development in its services, he added.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Sharjah Consultative Council, state officials from the Eastern Zone, and senior police officers.

Lt. Col. Ali Masoud Al Khattal, director of police in the Eastern Zone, said introducing Anjad patrols here is a big step in achieving better control.

"It reflects the keenness demonstrated by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, to develop services in the Eastern Zone and to promote and upgrade skills here," he said.

He added that the Anjad patrols will help fight crime and regulate traffic flows.

"Anjad police will help pump fresh blood into the Eastern Zone police and help provide better 24-hour security," he said.

Col. Al Mutawa reviewed the Anjad Police patrols being introduced here, and toured the traffic department.
