Emirates has unveiled its technology and entertainment corner called e-zone in the business-class lounge at Dubai Airport's Terminal 3.

The e-zone features exclusive technologies, which have been developed in association with Microsoft Gulf at the Dubai Innovation Lab. It also offers gaming facilities from Xbox 360 and Microsoft Surface.

“e-zone is an extremely innovative concept,'' said Neetan Chopra, vice-president, IT strategy and architecture, Emirates.

“We have invested a lot to ensure our passengers have access to the latest technologies for entertainment and to keep in touch with their workplace or loved ones while travelling,'' he said.

The futuristic technologies include:

Attract: A rippling pond that invites passengers to touch and experience Microsoft Surface.

Destination Guide: An application that allows customers to interact with a moving 3-D globe. Built on the Microsoft Virtual Earth platform, users can click and zoom in on any location in the world and view general information and photos. Information on Emirates' wide network is also available.

Photo Album: A collection of Emirates photos, with holiday destinations and aircraft. Users can view, touch, move, zoom in/out and even share photographs online.

Paint: This creative application lets children use their hands to paint freely. The pictures can be made into a postcard or emailed as a souvenir.
