A man went down on one knee, at Lord’s Cricket Ground, but it wasn’t because of a failed fielding attempt but to propose to his girlfriend and tweeps couldn’t stop talking about it.

A sports fan chose the iconic location to propose to his partner and it was broadcast on television.

The camera zoomed in on the couple and the man took the opportunity to present an engagement ring, as the crowd awaited the woman’s response.

Commentator and former English cricketer David Lloyd, seemed extremely excited for the couple as the girl accepted the proposal. Lloyd shouted out, “Oh what a decision! Absolutely fantastic! Charan and Pavan congratulations. What a day!”

Television broadcasters also joined in, as “Decision Pending” appeared on people’s screens. Once the man’s girlfriend agreed to marry him, it was updated to “She said ‘YES!’”

Cricket fans around the couple clapped and cheered for the newly engaged duo.

Social media users congratulated them and Lord‘s Cricket Ground’s official Twitter account also commented.

Twitter user @PoppingCreaseSA wrote: “Seeing a proposal at @HomeOfCricket! What a wonderful moment for the happy couple! #LoveLords #ENGvIND”

To which ‏@HomeOfCricket replied: “We had a proposal last year as well. Love is always in the air here! #LoveLords.”

Tweep @SarcasmChamp appreciated the venue and the organizer’s good spirit: “Nice to see Lords allowing and not saying that it’s ‘Not Traditional’!”

Some tweeps chose to tweet at Lloyd.

Matthew Townsley @TigerTowns88 posted: “Absolute scenes at Lord’s!!! @BumbleCricket You soft lad! Commentating on a marriage proposal live and exclusive!!
