Dubai: Government-led contracts could drive Samsung Electronics’ regional business-to-business operations towards “high double-digit growth” next year.
Business-to-government (B2G) currently makes up the majority of the company’s B2B operations in the UAE, with exposure in sectors such as tourism, telecom, education, healthcare, and the oil and gas sector.
Samsung’s Business Enterprise Group is in discussions with many government agencies, including Abu Dhabi Police. It is looking to deliver its Galaxy Gear watch to police officers in the emirate.
“This is something that comes in very handy for the policeman; it has a camera as well so when he goes on a call that could be accident-related, he is able to real-time shoot and save a lot of time on reports,” said Madhav Narayan, Samsung’s senior regional director — GCC for the Enterprise Business Group.
Abu Dhabi Police are currently developing an own in-house application for the Samsung watch.
Samsung’s Enterprise Business Group grew 500 per cent over 2012-13 and is likely to deliver another strong performance in 2014, according to Narayan.
