Dell plans joint venture with Tecom

Last updated:

New York: Dell is in discussions with a Dubai government-owned unit to establish a joint venture that could bolster its sales in the Middle East, it has told the Wall Street Journal.

Chief executive Michael Dell mentioned the joint venture possibility in comments at a news conference in Dubai, but he did not elaborate on the talks, the Journal said.

A Dell spokesman, David Frink, told the Journal that any talks relating to an investment from Tecom was not in reference to any specific deal. Tecom, which operates business parks in the region, is owned by the Dubai government via Dubai Holding and Dubai International Capital, according to the report. A Dell representative was not immediately available for comment.
