Shaikha Fatima award is open to all sportswomen from the Arab world
Dubai: The ‘Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Award for Women Athletes’ is aiming to find leaders among UAE and Arab sportswomen.
The award will recognise the contribution of individual athletes and institutions in different categories including: best athlete, best coach, best media and best sports administrator. It will be open to sportswomen from all over the Arab world.
Nominations for the award will close on December 2, while the field visits and interviews will be conducted by January 19. The names of the winners will be announced on January 30 and the presentation will take place in February 2013.
“The message of this award is to reinforce, support and encourage women athletes from the Arab world to strive in the various fields so that we can feel proud of our accomplishments,” said Mohammad Al Mahmoud from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, under whose auspices the award is being held.
