Denver: The Colorado Rockies ended a run of 10 straight defeats at the hands of San Francisco by edging the Giants 10-9 on Friday, closing the gap on the National League West’s co-leader to two games.

Elsewhere, Detroit beat Texas in a match of American League division leaders, Philadelphia ended Cincinnati’s six-game winning streak and Tampa Bay hung on for a win over slumping Baltimore.

St. Louis scored five runs in the first inning to set up a win over Milwaukee, Jason Kipnis hit a three-run homer in the 10th inning to lift Cleveland over Seattle, Hiroki Kuroda pitched the New York Yankees past Toronto and Boston notched another comeback victory by edging Minnesota in 10.

Colorado’s Jordan Pacheco hit a tie-breaking grand slam in the fifth inning and Carlos Gonzalez added a solo homer for the Rockies.

Pacheco laced his first homer of the season on a hanging slider from Madison Bumgarner (4-2), who failed to protect an early four-run lead.

Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera went 3 for 4 with a go-ahead double in the sixth inning to give the Tigers a 2-1 win over Texas.

Detroit’s Jim Leyland moved within one victory of his 1,700th win as a major league manager as the Tigers remained tied with Cleveland atop the AL Central.

Tigers starter Rick Porcello (2-2) allowed one run in 5 2-3 innings with six strikeouts and a walk.

Philadelphia’s Domonic Brown drove in the tie-breaking run on an infield grounder in the eighth to lift the Phillies to a 5-3 win over Cincinnati.

Phillies starter Cliff Lee threw seven sharp innings, giving up two runs and striking out seven.

Tampa Bay’s Kelly Johnson hit a three-run homer and an RBI single as the Rays clung onto a big early lead and downed Baltimore 12-10.

The Orioles surrendered a season-high 17 hits for the second straight game and gave up their most runs in any game this season. Baltimore has allowed 27 runs over its past five games.

Baltimore responded with a six-run eighth inning but could not bridge the gap.
