Abu Dhabi: Trainer Doug Watson's Paris Gagner looks the one to beat in the Group 1 Emirates Championship, the final day's feature event here on Sunday night at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.
The five-year-old son of Dormane makes his first appearance here in the capital, but under Martin Dwyer, Paris Gagner is likely to give Watson a crucial win which could help in his tussle for the trainer's championship with Musabeh Al Muhairi.
Watson has 35 winners while Musabeh is close on 34 and the two have some smart runners in tonight's 6-race card.
While Watson's Paris Gagner is accompanied by stablemate Al Awal in the Dh200,000 Emirates Championship, Musabah's challenge in this feature event comes from Al Awal.
In the only race for Thoroughbreds, Watson's pair of Bianconi and Rohaani take on Musabeh runners Hawks Home and Pearly King. However, it is Erwan Charpy's Great Plains and Dhruba Selvaratnam's Mulaqat who are likely to be the most favoured by the Pick Six followers.
