Honoured for their contribution to sports

Dubai:   The winners of the second edition of the Emirates Appreciation Award for Sports was announced during yesterday's meeting of the board of trustees.

The meeting was chaired by Abdul Rahman Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and Chairman of the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare.

The board paid tribute to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the support he gives to the award.

The award was launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as part of national efforts to advance sports.

The board of trustees affirmed the determination of the UAE's wise leadership to recognise and appreciate outstanding sportsmen.

Announcing the winners of three categories, the board said Abdul Rahim Mohammad Jani was awarded the team manager prize in the administrative category

Other winners are Mohammad Khalifa Al Qubaisi, who was given the individual games prize in the player category while Mohammad Murad Al Joker won the technical prize of the journalist.

Al Owais congratulated the winners and wished them success in the future editions of the award.
