Emirates Golf Club's juniors began the new season in the same style they finished the last, by winning a major club tournament.

The team of Matthew Turner, Daniel Hendry, Nanna Nielsen along with “senior'' member Grad Girardi dominated the Mixed Season Opener, played over two days.

Opening on the Wadi, the second day saw the team tame the Majlis course with nine birdies and an eagle on the 18th to record 59.9, and 119.8 overall.

Right on their tails were former Emirates GC Captain Mick Brett's team, playing alongside his son Wayne Brett, Berit Paton Reid and Michael Kull. They stroked home eight birdies and 11 pars for 61.2 points and a 121.4 total.

In Division A, the Coles and Caleys took top prize with a tremendous finish of 122.4. They had the lead heading into the second day, but an inability to sink any birdies proved costly.

Frank Rooney, Miriam Rooney, Maurice Boyle, and Mark Rivenbark secured top spot in Division B with a 124.8, notching four birdies and an eagle on the par-five 13th.

Earlier, the new captains started the new season with the traditional drive-in. Both conquered their nerves in front of a big audience with Men's Captain Rai Legnar booming out to a superb 257 yards and new Ladies Captain Rekha Bandopadhyay launching her ball 148 yards down the middle.
