With 11 games played and 11 to go in this season's Etisalat Pro League, it is the perfect time for a half-term report on the 12 top-flight sides, what's been and what's to come.

So, in current league order:

Al Ain - Everything points to a first league title since 2004 if striker Asamoah Gyan stays fit. Solid at the back with just nine conceded and backed by great supporters who are worth a goal. Clear title favourites.

Al Jazira - More goals scored (31) than any other side but also 19 conceded which compares badly with the 27 in the whole of last season's title-winning effort. The squad is ageing and with AFC Champions League commitments from March it will be tough to stay on Al Ain's coat-tails.

Al Nasr - Just one point from their opening three matches but flying ever since. Australia's Mark Bresciano has been inspirational at the back and AFC Champions League commitments could work against them but the round 12 clash with Al Ain could be defining.

Al Shabab - Silverware already this season, beating Al Ahli to land the Gulf Club Champions Cup. Two costly league losses, against lowly Sharjah and rivals Al Nasr, have dented title ambitions and they need Carlos Villanueva to play well in order to do so as a team. Well-placed in the Etislalat Cup where they are defending champions.

Al Wahda - Another side with silverware already after winning the season-opening Super Cup against Al Jazira. Coach Josef Hickersberger has juggled his resources skilfully but no side has drawn more games.

Al Wasl - Two words sum up the season so far: Diego Maradona. His presence has brought in sponsors and publicity but on the field things have been modest with one win in the past six league matches. Out of the President's Cup and two of the overseas signings, Edson Puch and Richard Porta, have been failures. Coaches with better records than that in the UAE have been sacked.

Al Ahli - Another season of under-achievement despite the goals of ex-Bundesliga player of the year Grafite. Coach Ivan Hasek was axed, ex-Atletico Madrid coach Quique Flores was installed and has taken his time to find his feet. Out of the President's Cup, this has the makings of a wasted season.

Baniyas - Midfielder Theyab Awana's death and the signing of ex-France striker David Trezeguet combined to destabilise the club that should have pushed on after last season's second place. One positive is the President's Cup semi-final.

Ajman - The news this week that striker Toure Ebrahima is likely to be heading to Monaco is a disaster. The Senegalese striker has scored 14 goals in the Pro League and Etisalat Cup and has kept them afloat. Without him they face a massive challenge to get enough points to stay clear of relegation.

Sharjah - Current coach Jorvan Vieira, harshly sacked by Baniyas, is the third man at the helm since the end of last term, which sums up a dreadful first half of the season. In the President's Cup semi-finals and Marcelinho and Edinho have scored 14 league goals between them but the problem has been the 22 goals conceded.

Dubai - Disastrous home form is crippling the side's chances of staying up, with no wins in six matches. A round 10 win over Al Wasl hinted at better times but that won't happen unless home form improves dramatically.

Emirates - A huge disappointment after encouraging displays in last season's AFC CL which the club played in after winning the Super Cup. Fewest goals scored (10) and most conceded (30) tells its own story, although a 2-2 draw with Al Wahda hinted at better to come. It needs to - and fast.
