Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Indian School (Adis) and The Cambridge High School scored resounding semi-final victories to set up a final showdown in the Abu Dhabi inter-school tournament for under-16s.

Nithin Samuel and Mohammad Israfil starred for Adis with the bat and the ball respectively while Moiz Qazi shone for Cambridge with a fine all-round performance.

Samuel stroked 70 not out and Israfil grabbed four wickets in a 68-run triumph over Merryland International, for whom opener Owais Hassan was the standout batsman with 51 not out.

Qazi took three for 16 from three overs and hit a breezy 33 not out in Cambridge’s 10-wicket march over Asian International School of Ruwais in the two games played at the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council’s Nursery Oval.

Samuel played the anchor role. His 66-ball knock contained half-a-dozen boundaries and with Israfil (22), he shared a 46-run opening wicket partnership in six overs to give their team a sound start.

AIS-Ruwais, after a steady start from the openers Majid Rafi (10) and Stephen Philipose (11) to take the score to 26 in six overs, were bundled out for 68.

Cambridge knocked off the winning runs in under 10 overs without any loss, with Qazi paving the way with five hits to the fence and Sachin Jha 21 not out with a six and couple of fours.
