Double success for Khalid-owned horses

Oropendolo and Irun excel in ridden classes

Dubai: Horses owned by Shaikh Khalid Bin Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan won both the ridden classes on the second day of the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship being held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Oropendolo, bred in Spain by Andres Holgado Dianez, won the Ridden Class for Stallions during the morning session.

Stable companion Irun (ES) was the runner-up, while the Dubai Arabian Horse Stud's Debowiec was ranked third. In fourth place was Qatari entry Ohio, owned by Shaikh Faisal Bin Jasem Al Thani, with Al Khattar W'Rsan, owned by Shaikh Sultan Bin Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, The President's Representative, finishing fifth.

The Ridden Class for Mares and Geldings was swept by Moguer who, like Oropendolo, is owned by Shaikh Khalid. Emina did her owner Hamad Bin Abdul Rahman Al Attiyah proud by bagging the runner-up prize ahead of Muteeaa W'Rsan, owned by Shaikh Sultan.

Fourth place in the category went to Bashayer Al Zobair, owned by Shaikha Nour Khalid Abdullah Al Thani, while the Kay Harward-owned R.S. Baahir was fifth.

Meanwhile, the Dubai Arabian Horse Stud's FT Shaella, a multiple world champion and the Gold Champion in 2010, topped the Class 4 category for mares aged four to six years. FT Shaella, who was also a Silver Champion behind Ajman Stud's Loubna in this championship last year, scored 93.25 points.

Qatar's Salwa Al Zubair performed well to take second place with 92.25 points while Ajman Stud's Aja Angelica was third with 91.88 points.
