Kolkata: The swing is back. So is the smile.

RP Singh is all about rhythm. He is bowling well for the Deccan Chargers in the IPL-II. So the Indian selectors had chosen him for the T20 World Cup.

Excerpts from a telephone interview:

Gulf News: So, another T20 World Cup and you are back in the national team.

RP Singh: It is really a great feeling to be back to the national team once again. I was working so hard to represent India. And yes, I am excited about the T20 World Cup, too.

The inaugural T20 World Cup must be the most enjoyable experience for you so far?

It has to be. We won the World Cup. The first for our country in this format of the game and that too, in the inaugural edition. We were over the moon after the victory.

And you had played your part in that, too. What was the most memorable moment for you in South Africa in 2007?

The moment when Misba's catch was taken by Sreesanth off Joginder (Sharma). We all played our role in that but if the catch was not taken at that moment, it would mean nothing. Because we had won the world cup, people are still remembering what we had done throughout the tournament.

This year, in the IPL, you are bowling well again..

Well, I had to work a lot in the NCA (National Cricket Academy) to get my fitness back. And now I am bowling with the same confidence I was bowling a couple of years ago. The swing is back and I am ready to pitch it up. As long as it happens, its good for me.

What is the importance of playing the IPL just before the World Cup?

It is really a great help for all of us. In both the tournaments, the format is the same. And there's nothing better than actual match practice. We are getting that scope to hone our skills just before the world cup. So, it could not have happened better. We will be ready when the world cup will be knocking at the doors.
