Sharjah: Dubai’s Desert Cubs Academy Under-14 youngsters have embarked on a cricket tour of Bengaluru, India.

The tour will last for eight days and the team will play two 35-over games and four Twenty20 matches against some of the top teams in the area and from overseas.

Presley Polonnowita, Head Coach of Desert Cubs Cricket Academy, said: “This is Desert Cubs’ first tour to India and we’re expecting tougher opponents than previous tours such as England, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Oman. The purpose of the tour is to give young players an opportunity to experience something different and gain vital exposure of playing in a major cricket playing country like India to test their skills against some quality players in an organised environment.”

Desert Cubs will play against Bengaluru’s top teams such as J.K. School of cricket, Doorvani Cricket Club, Star Cricket Club and YMCA School of Cricket. All the matches will be played on turf surfaces. The team will be captained by Dhanaraj Parek with Owais Sajid as vice-captain.

Indika Batuwitarachchi is the coach and Abdul Latif takes on the role of manager.
