Dubai: An Eid Caravan drove across the city to distribute early Eid Al Adha gifts to workers and low-income people on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Dar Al Ber Society’s caravan of Eidiya visited three different places in Dubai and distributed special Eid Al Adha gifts, including branded shoes, garments, bags, belts, toys, consumer items, among others.

The first stop of the caravan was at Nuzul labour accommodation in Jebel Ali on Monday where more than 6,000 male labourers received consumer products including tea, moisturiser, face cream, body cream, and others. The people were also treated to ice cream, cakes and other sweets.

The second destination of the caravan was at the Philippines Overseas Labour Office (POLO) in Al Ghusais where 290 women received their Eid gifts.

The evening’s highlight was when Rochelle, one of the women at the shelter, received a branded wedding dress in time for her wedding in the Philippines. The bride-to-be was flying the next day to the Philippines.

The third distribution was held on Wednesday at Berkley’s Women Labour Accommodation in Al Quoz where around 300 women were given Eid gifts.

“Eid is the time to give and share happiness. These sisters and brothers are away from their families, and they deserve all the happiness. We, at Dar Al Ber Society, feel that it is our duty to make them feel happy,” said Dr Hesham Al Zahrani, deputy director, Social Sector, Dar Al Ber Society.

“All the people were very excited to receive the gifts. I felt really emotional seeing them so excited and happy after receiving the Eid gifts. I feel privileged that God has given me this opportunity to serve them,” said Juhi Yasmeen Khan, CSR and charity initiatives expert at Dar Al Ber Society.

Gary Pinto, camp supervisor, Dubai Properties at Nuzul Labour Camp, thanked the charity organisation because Eid Al Adha “came early” this time of the year.

“We are very grateful to Dar Al Ber Society for giving gifts to the residents of our camp. It feels like that Eid has already started here in our camp,” he said.
