There all the way
I’m one of the tenants of the tower that was on fire (‘Unsung heroes of the blaze’, Gulf News, May 10). I witnessed the way the workers bravely worked not only during the evacuation but even after controlling the situation, addressing the homeless tenants about their endless concerns and working round-the-clock to get the flats ready for the tenants. I salute them and thank them from the bottom of my heart.

Selfless acts
These are the real heroes who did not care for their lives when saving the lives of other people who were in danger. May God bless these young hearts with peace, good health and wealth for their humane act. This is a good example for us to become good human beings in life.
From Mr Ahmad
Abu Dhabi

Wrong generalisations

Ironically, these same heroes will not be allowed to live peacefully in an apartment in some areas because some “bachelors” have created problems in the past.
It’s funny how people generalise a whole community based on a few bad apples, but never generalise on the basis of the positive acts by these selfless people.

Good people

The history of the world is based on a few men and women who had faith in themselves. The heroes who saved the lives of the tenants will remain alive in their hearts until the end. May God bless all these heroes.

In the face of danger
Bravo to these selfless people. At first I was surprised as to how the tragedy was averted, but now I understand that it was partly due to their bravery. The real estate developer or the authorities should reward them as a token of appreciation.

A noble act
Words are not enough to praise these heroes. The noble deeds these brave men have done are reminders of our humanity. In times of need to survive, culture, race and personal safety are set aside for the duty to help. God bless these heroes!

Help appreciated

This is such a fabulous story — it brought tears to my eyes when i read it. It’s really great to know that such selfless people still exist. I hope some monetary reward or certificate can be given to these people who had lots to lose because of their heroic activity but gave so much more to all those tenants, without a single thought for themselves.

True bravery

I do not have any words to express how I feel. These people were not trained to handle emergency situations but did it through their courage and emotions. I salute them.

Broken
Recently I visited two petrol stations in Dubai and Sharjah to get my tyre pressure checked (‘Checking tyres could save your life’, Gulf News,
May 9). Since the equipment was not working, I took the time to highlight this matter to the respective managers on duty. A few weeks later, I passed by the same petrol stations only to find that no appropriate action had been taken to fix it. From my experience, I suggest that the authorities concerned in each emirate should ensure that the air and water gauges work properly.
