Stop the policy of warmongering

The heightening of tensions and the fiery exchanges of accusations between Iran and the rest of the world should come to an end.

Both Iran as well as those engaged in counter-attacking it should stop adding to the tension. The Arabian Gulf is in no need of an Iranian-American confrontation that would escalate into a full-scale war. Neither Iran nor any Gulf country for that matter can afford a period of volatile instability.

It is very critical to understand the ramifications of another war breaking out in the region. The Gulf has already gone through the devastating experience of three wars in just less than three decades. A fourth war would only bring about destructive effects against the entire region.

The first front to be affected would obviously be the economy. Growth rates of the Arab Gulf nations may slow down, hence affecting the development process. Furthermore, the Gulf region has to first attend to the problems faced by a neighbouring country - that is Iraq - where peace and stability have yet to be attained. Moreover, if at all a war breaks out there may well be a human cost involved. Toning down the rhetoric is to the benefit of all.
