A glittering career in photography, spanning over half a decade, came to an end with the passing of Noor Ali Rashid.

Credited with the distinction of being the UAE's first photojournalist, Rashid's images have provided the world with a documentary of the history of the UAE and its formation, as well as personal vignettes into the lives of such great leaders as Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Shaikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, who helped shape this country and propelled it into the future.

Rashid travelled into the future, too, recording the transformation of the UAE as it served notice of becoming a major player in the world.

Renowned for leaving no stone unturned to get the perfect image, Rashid will be remembered by his family, who survive him, and by those who view the extensive archive of material that he leaves behind. For a photographer of his status, that is the ultimate tribute.
