Don’t speed, do use your indicators, and don’t take risks
The holiday of Eid Al Fitr meant more people travelling on the roads. And sadly, that meant more people dying.
In a horrific accident in Oman, 11 people died; in Ras Al Khaimah three died; elsewhere around the UAE, two others died and scores were injured.
The unfortunate reality is that every public holiday brings more carnage to our roads — whether it’s rushing to visit relatives, speeding, or simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Unfortunately, in some cases, times of happiness brings sadness and tragedy to families.
The lesson is one of taking care at all times when on the road.
Every time you get behind the wheel of a car, use defensive driving techniques. Don’t speed, do use your indicators, and don’t take risks that might put you, your family and other road users at risk.
If roads are busy, as they always are during holiday periods, take extra time for your travels, plan ahead and exercise caution at all times.
After all, it is better to be late. Not dead late.
