Dubai Cares for the Gazans
The recent drive carried out by various charity entities in the UAE in aid of Gaza is commendable as it reflects the true spirit of the people residing in the country. A difference is made in times of need, collective efforts come together for a worthy cause. The systematic collection of aid across the country is positive and should be carried forward.
The drive received an overwhelming support from large and small entities and was not limited to official governmental departments. The drive engaged mostly school and university students. And it is perhaps this scene of so many young adults and children becoming part of the aid campaign that makes the difference. No sooner was the Dubai Cares campaign titled 'Children of Gaza' launched, over 3,000 volunteers joined hands to put together aid packages to be sent on to Gaza. The effort saw a cross section of ages, nationalities and professions. Hence, it is important that such an exercise is built on as the principle of volunteering for charity work should become institutionalised to include all segments and age groups. This will ensure that the practice becomes widespread and recurrent.
