The Louvre Abu Dhabi, a purpose-built museum in collaboration with the famous Louvre in Paris, France, will help establish the emirate of Abu Dhabi as a major cultural centre in the Middle East.

The building, which will form part of a large academic, arts and cultural hub will also help bridge the gap between the Eastern and Western cultures and arts.

The project, which is to be built on Saadiyat Island's Cultural District, is expected to be completed within five years.

The initial contract with the Louvre will run for 30 years, well into the 21st century, and more than enough time to ensure the long-standing co-operation between the United Arab Emirates and France continues to be enjoyed.

The building of the Louvre Abu Dhabi is yet another step in the collaboration between France and Abu Dhabi in various educational and cultural endeavours.
