On its official Twitter account, the Sharjah RTA said that the road in Industrial Area 3 will be closed for three weeks from March 25 until April 15.
Motorists have been advised to use alternative roads heading into Dubai through the industrial area, and can instead use the second industrial street and the fourth industrial street.
The road works include putting down new asphalt, according to the Sharjah RTA, and will affect motorists travelling towards Sharjah Ring Road.
The temporary road closure is part of a series of works to improve the infrastructure in the emirate of Sharjah.
Recently, the UAE Minister of Infrastructure Development said that the traffic flow towards Dubai will be significantly improved once the Badee' Bridge project is completed.
The Dh200m project on Emirates Road is already 75 per cent complete and is expected to be opened by August, 2018.
“The completion of the project will solve the problem of traffic congestion coming from Dubai in the evening, and in the opposite direction in the morning, thanks to the increasing capacity of the road," said Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, minister of Infrastructure Development in a previous statement.
The project is expected to increase the capacity of the road from 9,900 vehicles per hour to 17,700 vehicles per hour.
Al Nuaimi said that the government is also looking into improving Al Ittihad Road, Mohammad Bin Zayed and Emirates roads, after 2021 to further ease traffic flow between Dubai and Sharjah.
