Dubai: The Minister of Youth announced a new initiative called Arab Youth Pioneers Forum during the World Government Summit (WGS) in Dubai on Tuesday.

Shamma Suhail Faris Al Mazroui said the programme will have a high impact on youth. According to a WGS brief, the initiative will involve 100 young Arabs in multiple Arab countries who will hold workshops and discussions on pressing issues to find innovative solutions for governments, among other activities.

The announcement was made in the presence of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

Last year at WGS, Shaikh Mansour (who is the patron of the pioneers initiative) had launched a seven-point platform for Arab youth empowerment through the Arab Youth Strategy.

On Tuesday, Al Mazroui said the youth involved in the strategy had fulfilled their ambitions over the past year. She was joined on stage by several youth who had taken part in last year’s programmes, some of whom narrated their experiences.

“We are fortunate to be surrounded by such model youth who have had to realise their dreams in difficult situations. The youth have a right to dream … to become astronauts, to win the Oscars, to win the Nobel Prize. This new initiative will have a high impact on Arab youth. Let’s meet again in a year,” Al Mazroui said.

She thanked the UAE leadership for their support to the youth.

According to the WGS brief, the initiative, organised by the Arab Youth Centre (which was part of the seven programmes of the strategy), “represents an amazing opportunity to engage bright, young, ambitious and influential Arab youth in discussions that could be vital for the enrichment of Arab societies”.

It adds: “A hundred thought leaders, innovators, and disrupters from Arab youth have been identified to engage in a stimulating and invigorating convocation that links some of the foremost young Arab thinkers in the world today with civically-minded leaders in business, the arts, politics, sciences, humanities, and philanthropy who will share ideas, raise challenging questions, and inspire thought to action. Arab youth will engage in workshops that aim to innovate solutions that help shape future governments.”
