Dubai: A new framework to boost Emiratisation within Dubai Government will be delivered within the next three years, said senior officials at a ‘Meet the CEO’ event on Sunday.

Beginning in the last quarter of this year, the Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) will study key professional skills that will be required in the future, identify required specialisations and establish policies and procedures for scholarships.

Abdullah Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, director general of DGHR, welcomed members of the media and stressed the need to build a comprehensive human resources system that supports the development of highly skilled employees with innovative mindsets to meet the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Mona Al Merri, director general of Government of Dubai Media Offfice, was also on hand for the announcement.

Al Falasi said Emiratisation is one of DGHR’s top priorities and the Competency Assessment Centre of the DGHR is working with all Dubai Government departments to achieve the objectives of its Emiratisation programme.

As part of the announcement, DGHR launched ‘Benaa’, a masters scholarship programme developed in collaboration with the Mohammad Bin Rashid School of Government and Dubai Courts.

DGHR also introduced ‘My Dream’, a programme aimed at raising awareness of Dubai Government’s job requirements among high school and university students. An initiative to employ people of determination was also launched in collaboration with Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority, in addition to an electronic knowledge-sharing portal aimed at benefiting from the experience of retired employees.

Al Falasi spoke about the Competency Assessment Centre’s focus on evaluating, measuring and developing personal and professional competencies and identifying the strengths and weaknesses of employees. He also spoke about the Dubai Institute for Human Resource Development, a dedicated research and development entity specialised in upgrading skills of government employees.

Al Falasi briefed the media about DGHR’s various units, including the HR Data Centre, the Innovation Lab and the Pensions and Social Security Section.

He also explained the organisation’s strategy for developing corporate capabilities, building high competencies among Emirati employees, raising levels of excellence in human resources services, enhancing the governance of human resources and providing HR smart-services to Dubai Government.
