Dubai: A woman has been accused of stealing her ex-boyfriend’s valuable wristwatch at knifepoint.

The British woman and her male friend allegedly attacked the Nigerian victim in his Al Barsha flat, the Dubai Court of First Instance heard on Monday.

The Briton and the Nigerian were engaged in a heated argument about their affair, according to records, before the woman’s friend punched him.

According to the charge-sheet, the couple then stole his wristwatch worth Dh110,000, mobile phone worth Dh3,600 and his car keys at knifepoint. When they left his flat, the Nigerian reported the matter to police.

Police apprehended the woman, but her unidentified accomplice remains at large.

The woman pleaded not guilty in court on Monday, telling presiding judge Urfan Omar that she didn’t steal her ex-boyfriend’s belongings.

She was cited as telling prosecutors that she went to his flat to take the rest of her belongings when a fight ensued. She admitted to taking his car keys to recover some of her belongings that were in it.

The victim told prosecutors that the incident happened shortly after he broke up with the woman.

“She and a man came to my place at 7.30am. We had a heated argument and they assaulted me … they threatened me with a knife. I tried to defend myself … the man injured my face and they fled,” he said.

His lawyer asked presiding judge Omar to adjourn the case till he lodges a civil lawsuit against the accused.
