Dubai: A government employee brutally beat a schoolboy, 16, wearing a knuckle-duster and pulled him into a dark alley where he raped him, heard a court on Wednesday.

The Indian schoolboy was standing outside a restaurant when he saw his schoolmate accompanied by the 30-year-old Emirati government employee in Al Rashidiya area on May 9.

The Indian student got into a heated argument with the schoolmate asking him why he had spread rumours about him in the school that he was gay before they exchanged blows. As the two fought, the Emirati employee stepped in, took out a knuckle-duster from his pocket and assaulted the Indian student, who dropped on the ground unconscious at 9.45pm.

The employee then pulled the Indian into a dark alley where he forced the student to remove his pants and raped him.

After he finished, the employ told the boy that he would kill him and storm into his house and set him on fire if he reported the incident to the police.

Later, the student rushed home and notified his brother-in-law about what had happened.

The two then reported the matter to the police who apprehended the Emirati.

Prosecutors charged the suspect with raping the schoolboy, brutally assaulting him and threatening to kill him if he complained to the police. The suspect firmly refuted the charges when he showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Wednesday.

“I did not do that,” the suspect told presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi and provided him with a written waiver that he obtained from the 16-year-old stating he had dropped his complaint.

When asked if he is capable of hiring a lawyer, the suspect said no.

The Indian boy testified to prosecutors: “I was fighting with my schoolmate who had spread a rumour at school that I am gay … during the fight, the suspect intervened and beat me. He assaulted me with a knuckle-duster. Then he dragged me into a dark alley where he ordered me to remove my pants, but I refused. He beat me again and threatened me, then he pushed me towards the wall and raped me … then he threw me down and raped me again. After he finished, he stood up and threatened to slaughter me and trespass into my house and burn me alive if I reported him to the police.”

Presiding judge Al Shamsi said the court will appoint a lawyer to defend the suspect when it reconvenes on September 12.
