Dubai: A driving instructor, who groped two women while teaching them how to drive around the city after they had applied for a driving licence, will be jailed for three months.
The two female driving students had registered for lessons at a driving institute where the 36-year-old Bangladeshi driving instructor worked in April.
Once they showed up for a lesson on how to drive around the city, the women rode the testing car along with the instructor.
During the road trip, the instructor touched the thighs of the woman, who was taking the first lesson and then groped the posterior of the second woman after she had switched seats with the fellow student.
The two women reported the matter to the police who apprehended the Bangladeshi.
On Thursday, the Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the defendant of groping the women.
Presiding judge Urfan Omar said the accused, who had pleaded not guilty, will be deported following the completion of his punishment.
A police sergeant, who questioned the accused, said the latter claimed that he placed his hand on the first woman’s thigh to remind her to buckle her seat belt.
“As for the second woman, he said he touched her posterior to remind her to reduce speed as they were running into a crowded street,” said the sergeant.
The accused was quoted as telling prosecutors that he touched one woman’s elbow and the knees of the other.
The primary ruling remains subject to appeal.
