Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, OIC condemn attack, express solidarity with Bahrain

Manama: Five policemen were injured in a terror blast while securing Ashoora procession on Budaiya Highway in Daih in the outskirts of the capital Manama, the Ministry of Interior said late on Monday.

"The necessary steps are being taken," the ministry said on its media centre Twitter account.

Saudi Arabia condemned the attack and said that it fully supported Bahrain against terror attacks targeting the island kingdom's security and stability and attempting to intimidate its people.

Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Nayef Bin Abdul Aziz called his Bahraini counterpart Shaikh Rashid Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa to express Saudi Arabia's full support for Bahrain regarding all measures it takes to protect its security and stability, the news agencies in both countries said.

Prince Abdul Aziz stressed "full cooperation between the security services in the two countries, based on their cohesion and their common destiny."

Kuwait also expressed its "strong condemnation" of the terror blast and spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait's "full support for Bahrain as it takes the necessary measures to protect its security and stability."

The spokesperson added that Kuwait stood against terrorism under all its forms and manifestations.

In the Red Sea city of Jeddah, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the attack and expressed its full solidarity with Bahrain in confronting all acts of terror targeting its security, stability, people and public properties.
