Dubai: Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation, chairman and chief executive of Emirates airline and Group, inaugurated the Smart Command and Control Centre at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport.

Shaikh Ahmad, accompanied by Lt-General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, deputy chairman of Police and Public Security in Dubai; Major-General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, director-general of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affair (GDRFA); Major-General Ahmad Mohammad Bin Thani, assistant commander-in-chief of Dubai Police for Ports Affairs; Major-General Obaid Muhair Bin Surour, deputy director-general of GDRFA; and other officials, toured the centre operated by the GDRFA Dubai.

The centre is equipped with latest technologies and systems to monitor the performance of officers in the passport control area and all land and sea ports to ease the procedures for travellers and check the functioning of the systems and networks.

The centre calculates the waiting time at all queues and can send an alert in case of emergency and delays or any glitch.

“We are using artificial intelligence at the centre as Dubai Airports welcomes millions of tourists every year. This centre will boost our work to be more ready to welcome Expo 2020,” Maj-Gen Al Merri said.
