Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Thursday received members of the Dubai International Communication Committee.

Shaikh Mohammad called on the committee members to keep abreast of the continuous development witnessed by all sectors in Dubai. “You have a big responsibility, and we have the utmost confidence in your capabilities to carry out your duties. We were successful in attracting the world’s eyes to Dubai through honourable achievements in all areas. We continue to acquaint the world with our capabilities and the innovative minds we have in the UAE will pave the way for achieving more ambitious future goals,” he said.

Shaikh Mohammad urged relevant bodies in Dubai to cooperate with the committee so that it can carry out its duties, and to supply it with updated data concerning different sectors. He said that this would help the committee formulate realistic messages that are backed by facts and statistics concerning the comprehensive and sustainable development process in Dubai, including the emirate’s initiatives and successes in all fields.

Shaikh Mohammad pointed out that it is important to raise the world’s awareness on Dubai’s approach for development and growth and its quality projects in various areas, particularly those pertaining to shaping the future. The Vice-President said that there is always room for further expanding the scope of cooperation and boosting its positive outcomes, especially during the time when Dubai and the UAE, in general, are encouraging innovation and preparing an environment that supports business and attracts creative minds.

Shaikh Mohammad was briefed by Mona Ganem Al Merri, Director-General of the Dubai Government Media Office, on the activities on the committee’s agenda during the coming phase, which include foreign visits and organising practical training programmes in cooperation with academic bodies around the world.

Shaikh Mohammad was also briefed by Bernardino Leon, president of Emirates Diplomatic Academy (EDA), on the avenues of cooperation between the Dubai Government Media Office and the academy to enhance the capabilities of the committee in presenting a comprehensive picture on Dubai’s development efforts, and the emirate’s contributions that serve humanity.

The committee was launched by the media office in March in the presence of Shaikh Mohammad. The committee was set up as part of a group of initiatives revealed by the media office during the media camp it organised in Al Marmoom.

The committee focuses on cooperating with the Emirates Diplomatic Academy to boost the foreign media’s positive interaction with Dubai, which will better acquaint the world with the emirate’s key achievements, projects and initiatives.
