Dubai: A jobless man has been accused of supplying heroin to his girlfriend, and hiding her body in an electric room after she died of an overdose, heard a court on Wednesday.

The Emirati girlfriend was said to have disappeared from home for a few days before her mother reported her missing to the police in March.

Four days later, police interrogations found that the Emirati was last seen with the 35-year-old jobless man from Comoros Islands. According to records, following the man’s arrest he said the Emirati consumed heroin with him in his car and when she overdosed and died, he dumped her body in Ajman.

Crime scene investigators recovered the woman’s decomposed body in an electric room in Ajman.

Prosecutors charged the 35-year-old suspect of supplying his girlfriend with heroin for consumption, disposing off her body after she died of drug overdose, possessing heroin and consuming drugs.

According to the charges, prosecutors said the suspect took the body to an agricultural area in Ajman where he hid it in an electric room.

The suspect denied the charge of supplying drugs to the victim when he appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

“I did not provide her with drugs. Yes I left her where I had dropped her and drove away … I consumed the drug that she brought with her,” the suspect said before presiding judge Arafa Mohammad.

A police captain testified to prosecutors that the mother reported them that her daughter went missing from home in March.

“Primary investigations found that she had been present with the suspect. We arrested the 35-year-old four days later in Al Aweer. When questioned about the Emirati girl, he claimed that they were consuming drugs in his car when she died of an overdose. Then he alleged that he drove her to Ajman where he got rid of her body and returned to Dubai,” he told prosecutors.

Records said drug enforcement officers found the woman’s body in an advanced state of decomposition. Meanwhile forensic examiners confirmed that she died of a heroin overdose.

A lawyer will be assigned to defend the suspect when the court reconvenes on August 1.
