GM recalls limited number of 2004 Cadillac models
Abu Dhabi: US automaker General Motors (GM) has launched a recall campaign on certain 2004 model year Cadillac SRX vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, the company said in a notice on Sunday.
"On some of these vehicles, the transmission shift lever can be moved from the park position with the ignition on and without depressing the brake pedal or, in some cases, the shifter can be moved from the park position with the ignition turned off," Mounir Baalbaki, Marketing Communications Manager for GM Middle East Operations, told Gulf News in an e-mailed interview.
Asked how many cars are affected in the UAE, Baalbaki said: "We do not share such information."
The actual (repair) work will take about one hour, however, customers are asked to contact their dealer in advance to schedule appointments in order to save time and hassle," said Baalbaki.
"The recall aims at providing a permanent solution to the affected vehicles. There will be no cost incurred by the customers," he added.
Late last year, GM recalled a few of its 2006 model Chevrolet Lumina and Caprice cars in the UAE to repair manufacturing defects.
