What am I going to wear?! I am going to a wedding and do not know what to buy. As an Emirati woman, I not only have to get a new dress, but also must find the perfect abaya and shayla. Having been invited to several wedding functions this season, a fashion show, I thought, would provide the perfect solution to my couture problems.

I caught the show dedicated to showcasing abayas at the Sharjah Expo Centre. The models presented the spring designs from Hanayen, a local fashion house.

The abayas were quite striking. True to spring spirit, the abayas were embellished with white, pink, orange and gold. I quite liked the over-the-top fashion statements made, with satin patches and sequined flowers appearing prominently on the back and sleeves.

Now I know the trends and so will be happy to hit the boutiques, armed with fashion knowledge!
