Dubai: Gargash Enterprises, authorized general distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Dubai, Sharjah and Northern Emirates, recorded a 22 per cent sales increase for the first half of 2008, delivering a total of 3,232 new and used vehicles compared to 2,644 in the first half of 2007.

A record number of 2,472 new cars were sold in the first half of 2008 compared to 2,015 in the same period during 2007. As anticipated by Gargash Enterprises, the 2008 new cars sales figure comprised largely of sales of the C Class models, amounting to 768 vehicles, and the E Class models with 356 vehicles. Similarly, used vehicles enjoyed a 20 per cent increase thanks to 760 units sold in 2008 compared to 629 sold in 2007.

Gargash Enterprises anticipates sales to rise further throughout the year, thanks to the upcoming launch of the GLK Class, which has already received over 10,000 orders in Western Europe alone - even before its launch.
