Putting on make-up during the summer for me means a quick and light application, and this also means ditching the make-up brushes. There are some products that don’t need to be applied with brushes, making them perfect for lazy days where you just want to use your fingers to create a simple look.

1. The Mac Studio Waterweight Foundation is a stunner of a product and really lives up to its name. It’s a very watery liquid, but still boasts a decent amount of coverage. Warm up a few drops of the foundation between your fingers and using light sweeping motions, spread the product from the centre of the face outward. The finish is lightweight and dewy — perfect for hot summer days.

2. The & Other Stories Cheek & Lip Tint is a handbag staple for me this summer. The texture of this product is unlike anything I have tried before — it has a slippery texture but dries down to a matte, powdery finish. The colours range from bright orange to everyday pinks, but for a rushed finger application, a subdued colour would be best. A tip for the lip application is to use a patting motion to slightly blur out the edges of the colour, giving a more romantic, fresh look.

3. Cover FX Enhance Click Highlighter comes in a lipstick-style bullet and even glides on like one. Dab it onto the cheekbones and blend with the tips of the fingers. It will leave you with a subtle glowing-from-within sheen.

4. Soft, shimmery eyeshadows such as the ones from Kiko Milano and Colourpop are much more forgiving to work with compared to matte shadows, which might need the blending power of a brush. The shimmer adds dimension, so you won’t need multiple shades. After patting on as much or as little colour as you want, don’t forget to use a clean finger to blend out the edges.
