  • 1 egg
  • 90g caster sugar
  • 150g plain flour
  • 125ml full cream
  • A pinch bicarbonate of soda
  • A pinch baking powder
  • 25g milk chocolate, grated
  • 25ml chocolate sauce
  • 45g butter
  • Vanilla ice cream, to serve

    For the sauce:

  • 50g brown sugar
  • 50g butter
  • 4 tbsp cream
  • 4 tbsp full cream
  • 35ml chocolate sauce


  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. In a bowl whisk egg and caster sugar until sugar dissolves.
  2. In a separate bowl mix flour, cream, bicarbonate of soda, baking powder, grated chocolate, chocolate sauce and butter. Mix well to ensure there are no lumps.
  3. Stir egg-sugar mixture into flour mixture and transfer to a baking tin. Bake for 30 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, to prepare sauce heat sugar and butter over low heat, stirring constantly. When butter melts, add cream and whisk until it begins to thicken. Add chocolate sauce and stir. Cool sauce in an ice bath.
  5. Serve pudding with chocolate sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
